In celebration of South African Librarians' Day, Westridge Library opened its doors to a wave of excitement, warmth, and literary joy as it hosted the official launch of Friends Forever, the latest children’s book by celebrated author Devine English.

Despite the whimsical winter weather, the library was abuzz with laughter, storytelling and eager young readers, all drawn together by a shared love for books and the power of imagination. The event served as both a celebration of children’s literature and a tribute to the vital role libraries play in nurturing young minds and building community connections.

The day was filled with storytelling, lively discussion, and of course, the opportunity for fans — young and old — to meet the author herself. Devine English, known for her warm storytelling and heart-filled tales, delighted attendees with readings from her new book and shared insights into the creative journey behind Friends Forever.

A special thanks was extended to all those who made the event possible. From the ever-dedicated Westridge Library staff and the supportive journalists at the Plainsman, to the enthusiastic members of the Library Friends Organisation, the launch was a true community affair. Each played a role in making the day a resounding success.

“This event is a testament to how the library fosters lifelong learning and community spirit. Here’s to many more magical moments!” the library posted.
