The ICC have confirmed that four Proteas and their five family members have boarded flights and are making their way back to South Africa on Wednesday.

Independent Media understands fast bowler Kagiso Rabada, Kwena Maphaka and Tristan Stubbs are among them.

This comes after the ICC had earlier on Wednesday morning released a statement that it "shares the frustration" of the Proteas delayed departure from India. The Proteas were eliminated at the semi-final stage on March 4.

The Proteas coaching staff, headed by Shukri Conrad, along with the team management departed Kolkata last Sunday for New Zealand. They, along with Keshav Maharaj, George Linde and Jason Smith, have all reached Mount Maunganui ahead of the first T20I against the Black Caps on Sunday.

The ICC stressed that they have "engaged continuously with airlines, charter operators, airport authorities, ground handlers, and government stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions to secure safe homeward travel for all affected groups as quickly as possible" and "that work remains ongoing."

The remaining 29 members of the Proteas travelling contingent, which includes family members and chief executive Pholetsi Moseki and CSA Director of Cricket, are scheduled to depart India within the next 24 hours.

The ICC also confirmed that nine members of the West Indies contingent have departed for the Caribbean, while the remaining 16 are booked on flights departing India in the next 12 hours.

The West Indies exited the T20 World Cup on March 1 after the Super Eights stage and have spent a further 10 days in India.

The organising body wished to state that all additional logistics, including accommodation, is being managed by ICC due to these unforeseen travel disruptions.
