A 48-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife in Tshidzini Mutshili, near Tshaulu in Limpopo.

Police said the couple’s son arrived home on Saturday, August 2, and saw his father leaving the property. When he asked where his mother was, the man allegedly shouted at him and threatened to assault him.

The son then went to a two-roomed house on the property to search for her, but found the door locked. He broke it open and discovered his mother’s body lying in a pool of blood.

Emergency services certified the 41-year-old woman dead at the scene. Police said she had sustained severe injuries to her upper body and that her left hand had been cut off.

The suspect was arrested later the same day. While the motive is still under investigation, police said domestic violence could not be ruled out.

He is expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court soon on a charge of murder.
