An illegal alcohol manufacturing operation was shut down this week when law enforcement officers raided a property in Muldersdrift, Gauteng.

The operation was carried out by members of the Gauteng Traffic Wardens, Muldersdrift SAPS, and Crime Intelligence, following weeks of surveillance on a property suspected of being used to produce counterfeit alcohol.

The breakthrough came when officers stopped a truck on Larsens Road during routine monitoring. A search of the vehicle revealed boxes of illicit alcohol. The driver was arrested and, under questioning, admitted that the alcohol originated from Plot 420 in Muldersdrift and was destined for delivery in Evaton.

The counterfeit liquor lab was uncovered after weeks of surveillance by law enforcement.

Police then raided the identified premises, where they discovered alcohol production equipment, large quantities of chemicals, and containers suspected to be used in the manufacture of fake liquor.

Authorities say the bust is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal supply chains and remove dangerous counterfeit products from circulation.

The suspect remains in custody, and further investigations are under way.
