As South Africa steps into the vibrant fashion season, Rubicon, one of the country's foremost fashion brands, has officially unveiled its Spring/Summer 2025 (SS25) collection.
The collection, titled “Ethereal Continuum,” made its captivating debut at the South African Fashion Week, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary African elegance.
Hangwani Nengovhela, Founder and Creative Director of Rubicon explained that the SS25 showcase has been designed to be more than just a runway presentation; it is a visual symphony that harmonises light, motion, and energy.
The collection was unveiled captivating audiences with a seamless blend of delicacy and power, nostalgia and futurism, heritage and innovation.
Attendees at the showcase included notable personalities such as Kim Jayde, Minnie Dlamini, Maps Maponyane, Sherinne Winderley, Margo Fargo, and Nambita Mpumlwana, among others, all coming together to witness the evolution of African luxury fashion.
“We wanted to create a collection this season that feels boundless yet deeply rooted, light yet powerful,” said Nengovhela.
“Aptly titled Ethereal Continuum, our pieces embody the spirit of the modern African woman: she is timeless, she is movement, she is evolution.”
Assistant designer Leah Ranoto expressed her heartfelt sentiments saying, “Working on ‘Ethereal Continuum’ felt like stitching together memories from the past and dreams of the future. Every fabric, every movement - it's our way of saying African elegance isn't just timeless, it's transcendent. Being part of the design team was such an honour, and I hope everyone loves the collection as much as we do, embodying it with grace and youthful spirit.”
As the world continues to shift and evolve, it is explained that the collection speaks to an ageless woman in motion: bold, yet effortlessly graceful. Each garment tells a story of transformation, featuring ethereal drapes reminiscent of shifting sands, alongside structured cuts that embody architectural strength. The collection also showcases intricate embroidered details, handwoven textures, and fluid layering, elements that evoke a profound connection between our past and a promising future.
