Two Tembisa SAPS police officers were arrested for drug possession at the Boksburg Correctional Centre. The incident took place around 09:30 on 15 April during what was described as a routine search of vehicles entering the facility.
During the search, a Correctional Services official alarmingly discovered a blue plastic bag tucked away beneath one of the seats inside an SAPS vehicle.
The bag contained 82 mandrax tablets and a significant amount of dagga. At the time of inspection, two members of the South African Police Service occupied the vehicle — one in full uniform and the other in civilian attire.
Both officers were arrested at the scene and are expected to appear in court shortly on drug possession charges. Further details have not yet been released as the legal process continues.
