Two people were killed and six others wounded in a shooting in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg.
The incident happened at about 10.30pm on Saturday.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili said a social gathering was taking place when about eight unknown men entered the yard and began firing randomly at the people before fleeing the scene on foot.
Two bodies were found at the scene, while the six people with gunshot wounds were rushed to the hospital.
"No suspects arrested yet and the motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage," Muridili said.
A manhunt has been launched for the eight suspects.
Muridili asked anyone who may have information that can assist with investigations to contact Crime Stop number; 08600-10111 or anonymously give tip-offs on MySaps App which can be downloaded on any smartphone.
Meanwhile, in response to an increase in crime, the SA National Defence Force has sent armoured vehicles and soldiers to Eldorado Park earlier this week.
The deployment follows an announcement that soldiers would be sent in to assist the police in the fight against illegal mining syndicates and violent gangs in five provinces, including Gauteng and the Western Cape.
