The National Press Club (NPC) and the African Media and Communicators Forum (AMCF) have jointly called on National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola to personally intervene in the ongoing case of missing journalist Sibusiso Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Precious Mdhluli.
The couple was last seen on February 18, 2025, leaving their home in Mpumalanga in a white Volkswagen Citi Golf.
“Today marks 74 days since they were last seen by their loved ones. The organisations believe that only the involvement of the national commissioner will ensure the case gets the attention it deserves,” the NPC and AMCF said in a joint statement.
Elijah Mhlanga, AMCF chairperson and communications specialist, expressed concern over the slow pace of the investigation and the lack of communication or progress in the case.

As the search for missing journalist Sibusiso Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Precious Mdhluli enters its 74th day, the African Media and Communicators Forum (AMCF) and the National Press Club (NPC) have increased the reward for information from R50,000 to R100,000, urging the public and authorities to act.
Elijah Mhlanga, chairperson of AMCF, expressed deep concern over the lack of progress in the investigation.
“Since their disappearance on February 18, there has been no trace of the couple or their white Volkswagen Citi Golf. No task team has been assigned, and families have received no official updates from police,” said Mhlanga.
He added that the ongoing silence and slow response have caused unbearable emotional distress, particularly for the couple’s child who is reportedly struggling at school due to stress and anxiety.
“The fact that two adults with a vehicle can vanish without a trace is alarming. We hope this increased reward will encourage someone to come forward, but we also need SAPS to step up and prioritise this case,” Mhlanga said.
Meanwhile, Antonette Slabbert, acting chairperson of the NPC, said they remain hopeful the couple will be found alive and that the truth surrounding their disappearance will come to light.
