Police have arrested a suspect in Limpopo for dealing and possession of illicit drugs valued at R130 000. The arrest was made during a targeted operation, and various drugs were confiscated.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the suspect was nabbed during a joint intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit, the Traffic Police, and the Waterberg Flying Squad Unit on April 29 around 4 pm.
Ledwaba revealed that officers acted on critical intelligence regarding a suspect transporting illicit drugs from Gauteng to Limpopo in a blue BMW with Gauteng registration plates. In response, a meticulously coordinated operation was swiftly launched, with police strategically positioning themselves at Kranskop Tollgate to successfully intercept the vehicle.
“At around 9 pm, the targeted vehicle was spotted and pulled over. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered heroin drugs concealed in transparent plastic packaging with an estimated street value of R100 000.”
The suspect’s vehicle was also confiscated as part of the investigation.
Ledwaba further stated that officers extended the operation to the suspect’s home, where they uncovered additional drugs, further implicating the individual in a larger drug trafficking operation.
