A man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a woman in Limpopo. Details of the incident reveal a chilling escalation of violence, prompting police to urge community cooperation in fighting crime.

Police in Botlokwa, located in the Capricorn District of Limpopo, have arrested a 35-year-old man following the fatal stabbing of a 34-year-old woman.
According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the incident occurred on April 26 around 11 am in Dikgolaneng village. Ledwaba further stated that authorities were notified after the victim succumbed to her stab wounds.
“Police were alerted after the victim succumbed to her injuries at a local health facility where she had been admitted with stab wounds to her chest.”
He added that preliminary investigations revealed the victim and the suspect were seen walking together by community members shortly before the suspect allegedly attacked her with a sharp object.
The 35-year-old suspect was traced and apprehended shortly after the incident.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba added that a case of murder was opened and investigations commenced immediately.
The suspect has since appeared before the Morebeng Magistrate’s Court on April 29, and the case was postponed to May 5. He is facing a charge of murder.
Meanwhile, acting provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Major General Samuel Manala, commended the members for their swift response and arrest.
"We commend our members for acting quickly to ensure that the suspect was apprehended. The SAPS remains committed to ensuring the safety of all our residents, and we urge communities to continue working with us in fighting crime," said Major General Manala.
