Johannesburg - Plans to carry out disciplinary action against African National Congress members who have been leading the “poo war” targeting Premier Helen Zille and mayor Patricia De Lille are in place.
ANC regional secretary Vuyiso “JJ” Tyhalisisu said on Monday that former ANC councillor and banned Youth League member Andile Lili and proportional councillor Loyiso Nkohla would be called before the party’s regional disciplinary committee soon.
The two were among seven men released on Saturday after a three-week stint at Pollsmoor Prison after dumping human waste at Cape Town International Airport on June 25.
The seven were granted bail of R2 000 each in the Western Cape High Court.
“We are in the process of completing our investigation and formulating charges against their conduct,” said Tyhalisisu. “They will be also be given an opportunity to present their case before the committee.”
Tyhalisisu could not comment on what kind of discipline the pair might face as he is one of the complainants. Nkohla, Lili and their co-accused are due back in court on August 5.
Attempts to get hold of Nkohla and Lili were unsuccessful on Monday.
Muhammad Khalid Sayed, the ANC Youth League provincial task team convener, said Nkohla was still a member of the League until the regional disciplinary committee decided otherwise.
