Tiger Woods has had a rough few weeks, and now he’s getting a little backup from an unexpected source: President Donald Trump.

In an interview with the "New York Post", Trump said that he’s spoken to Woods since the golfer’s February 27 crash and DUI arrest.

“I think he’s doing great, he’s doing good,” Trump said. “He tested negative for alcohol, as you know, and he is under a tremendous physical pressure from his various ailments, you know, the back and the leg.”

Pain has been a constant companion for Woods.

The five-time Masters champ has had seven back surgeries and more than 20 operations on his leg, including a disc replacement and Achilles repair in the past year alone. At the scene, Woods admitted to deputies that he takes “a few” prescription meds.

“He lives a life of pain. He has a lot of pain. He’s an amazing guy. He’s an amazing athlete. He does have pain. He doesn’t have an alcohol problem, but he does have pain," said Trump.

The crash itself raised questions.

Woods passed a breathalyzer but refused a urine test. Deputies reportedly found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket, and the affidavit noted signs of impairment: “bloodshot and glassy” eyes, “extremely dilated” pupils, and performance on a sobriety test suggesting he was “unable to safely operate” his SUV.

The golfer and Trump aren’t just friends and fellow golf lovers. Woods is currently dating Vanessa Trump, ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., making the support a bit more family‑adjacent than your typical pep talk.
