Film under the stars for WWF Earth Hour 2026

This outdoor cinema experience celebrates Earth Hour 2026 as it aims to focus from simply turning off lights to actively "giving an hour" to the planet through joyful, shared experiences that motivate care for the environment.

Hosted by WWF South Africa in partnership with SANBI, it is also an opportunity to enjoy a cinematic classic with loved ones in the great outdoors.

The movie, which will be screened, is “The Lorax”, the 2012 animated adaptation of a Dr. Seuss classic. It is a heart-warming animated adventure with a powerful environmental message. 

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic baskets (excluding alcohol), while on-site food vendors will also offer options.

Where: Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden.

When: Saturday, 28 March. Doors open at 4pm.

Soweto Cheese and Wine Live

One of the biggest events on the Joburg social calendar will be held this weekend as the sixth edition of this gathering returns to Soweto.

Attendees will get the chance to savour expertly curated cheese and wine pairings, featuring exceptional local, home-grown wine makers alongside other renowned wine brands.

There will also be local designer fashion and lifestyle stalls and a kids’ entertainment area.

Where: The Soweto Theatre Forecourt.

When: Sunday, March 29, from 12pm.

The Johannesburg HOMEMAKERS Fair

Homemakers are in for a treat at this event, which offers homeowners the opportunity to gather ideas, seek expert advice, compare offerings and connect directly with professionals in the industry.

This includes building and renovation solutions to interiors, kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor living, décor and lifestyle enhancements.

Where: Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit & International Convention Centre.

When: From Friday, March 27, to Sunday, March 29, from 10am to 6pm on Friday, and from 9am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
