Mashel and Dene Jones have been evicted from the Big Brother Mzansi house, making it a total of four housemates who have left the house so far. This follows the first big nomination for this season, which had 10 housemates up for eviction.

Tom London opened the Sunday Live Evictions Show with a performance featuring Zee_Nhle, Slick Widit singing Amagama. This was followed by Big Brother Mzansi host Smash Afrika saying what Mzansi was also echoing: “Tonight kusazoshuba!”

To show the intensity of Week 3, he took the audience through the nominations process: how the Housemates nominated each other and how the nominees felt. Smash went on to chat to Tumi the Barber during the show and asked what he thought about his reign as Head of House, marking him as the first HoH to be kicked out of the luxury suite. Asking Liema if Tumi was more concerned about himself or leading the house, she said ‘definitely, he is more about Tumi’.

Mashel was the third Housemate to be evicted from the house, saying that he expected it because of who he was close to in the house, (possibly referring to Ofentse who was evicted last week).

Meanwhile, Dene Jones who said she was ‘shocked’ at her departure since she still had someone to kiss in the house…that being Tumi the Barber.

The week that was

The house became a real-life version of the apps we live on. With the theme being AmaVIP, popularity became key, demonstrating that it not only determines who comes tops but that it influences privileges, relationships and who really runs the house for the week.

The past week in Big Brother’s house was both exciting and somewhat somber when the housemate’s received punishment from Biggie. Neliswa scored herself a win for finishing the challenges at the Friday night arena games, securing a R10 000 win for herself. Those celebrations were, however, short-lived as Biggie warned the Housemates about not taking the competition seriously and breaking the rules.

In this instance, only Dene Jones and Mshefane were the ones who were praised by Biggie for good behaviour. The notorious Thandeka received the toughest punishment, which included being banned from the next Head of House games and dressing as the ‘main character’ until Biggie decides otherwise.

Wager Loss

We saw the first wager loss for this season. Housemates had to create a fictional brand calling for all their skills for which they wagered 100%. They were dealt a blow when they lost and all the Housemates admitted that this wager was all about working together which they did not do, and they all agreed that they did not give it their best.

Biggie’s punishment

As a group punishment, Biggie closed all the bedrooms, including the Head of House suite with Housemates having to sleep in the lounge. This was because of Biggie’s frustration by Housemates challenging his authority and dragging their feet during tasks. The wager preparations were chaotic, and the housemates’ feelings often got in the way of teamwork.

This, however, did not deter the housemates from having the most fun during Saturday’s Chillers Party turnup with DJ Shaun101. Galxboy brought the drip and the housemates looked like real VIPs and had social media buzzing on who should be signed as an ambassador for the apparel brand.
