"Sister Sister" star Tia Mowry has bravely opened up about her transformative journey following her recent divorce from actor Cory Hardrict.
The couple, who shared a 14-year marriage, officially parted ways in April 2023, leading Mowry to delve deep into her personal growth and self-discovery through a heartfelt post on Instagram.
In an open and inspiring message, Mowry encouraged her fans to rethink societal narratives surrounding divorce and singlehood.
“This is what rewriting the story looks like ✨,” she wrote, accompanying the post with a series of beautiful images that reflect both her resilience and newfound confidence.
Reflecting on her past, Mowry acknowledged the damaging societal beliefs that had shaped her perception of self-worth.
"They told me I wasn't valuable anymore because I'm 46 and divorced ... For a long time I believed that my value came from being in a relationship. Being chosen. Being picked. That somehow, love from someone else defined who I was."
Mowry said that after the divorce, she was forced to ask herself the question, "What does Tia want?" This introspection led to a vital realisation.
"When you've been with someone for over 20 years, it's easy to forget who you are outside of that partnership ... I realised how much of my worth I tied to being validated by a man. Society teaches us that. From fairy tales to tradition, we're told we're only valuable when someone picks us.
"After my divorce, I saw how people, especially toxic misogynistic men, look down on me. As if I wasn't valuable anymore. Because I have kids. Because I'm not in my twenties. Because I'm divorced. That's the narrative? It's cruel. And it's false."
Mowry communicated a powerful message of self-acceptance and empowerment.
"I had to unlearn that. I am not less than because I'm single. I'm not damaged because I'm divorced. And I am not unworthy because I'm a mom."

Emphasising her desire for love, she clarified her intentions: "Yes, I want love, but I'm no longer chasing it to fill a void. I'm choosing me first. Because that's where my peace lives."
Her journey towards healing has involved confronting her emotions and connecting with her inner self.
She said: "I've done the work. I've cried. I've healed. And for the first time in a long time, I feel like my soul is finally back in my body. I'm no longer floating, disconnected, or trying to survive. Now I am aligned, mind, body and soul and it feels so good."
Mowry urged her followers to reconsider what it means to be single.
"So let's change the narrative. Being single doesn't mean I'm lacking. It means I'm learning, growing, thriving. I don't need to be chosen to feel validated. I am not expired. I am not 'too much'. I am powerful, whole, enough ... "
Taking to the comments, Hollywood actress Halle Berry wrote: "Live your best life babe ❤️."
Another fan wrote: "I’ve been thinking about this … They have always shoved being married, being validated by a man as the number one goal for little girls in these movies. The validation comes from my God that’s all I need and so happy I finally woke up ❤️ ❤️🩹."
