Police have confirmed they have yet to make an arrest in the murder of alleged underworld figure Andre Naude

Nearly a week after the shooting, SAPS spokesperson, FC van Wyk, said: “Kindly be advised that the matter you are referring to is under investigation no arrests have been made yet. Anyone with any information is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously.”

Naude was shot and killed in hail of bullets on June 12 in Voortrekker Road, Goodwood.

Police said he had been in the company of friends when he was ambushed by gunmen inside a vehicle who opened fire.

Naude, 55, died at the scene while a 61-year-old man was wounded and two others aged 45 and 55 were left unharmed.

A spate of shootings has plagued the City since the murder, including three people shot in Morgenster Road, Mitchell’s Plain, on Tuesday.

Anti-crime organisation Fight Against Crime South Africa (FACSA) said Naude's murder would automatically cause a shift in the underworld realm.

FACSA is fully aware of the current shifts unfolding within the leadership structures of organised crime networks. This shooting may mark the beginning of a broader power struggle within these circles,” said FACSA.

We call on SAPS to immediately investigate and to activate specialised organised crime and intelligence units to prevent any retaliatory acts that could endanger innocent lives.”

IOL reported that Naude was no stranger to controversy and was murdered just months after his apparent business partner, Mark Lifman was gunned down in a parking lot in George.

Both were charged with the murder of Brain Wainstein, known as the Steroid King.

Naude was also friends with alleged leader of the Sexy Boys, Jerome “Donkie” Booysen.

Booysen and his so-called associates visited the scene of Naude’s murder.
